Finishing 2025 With My Soul On FIRE!

Well, before I get started, I just have to say - if you don't already know - I actually DID start my podcast!!! There are currently 7 episodes out (with one more scheduled to post Saturday). I am having SO much fun with it! I am just so stinkin' proud of myself for doing the dang thing. LOL Whether I'm the only who ever listens to it - or it reaches a few strangers on the internet - I am so happy to be saying a resounding YES! to God's call on this one. So. Much. Fun. Holy Whispers Welcome Episode And, I guess, that leads in nicely to this blog post.  Let's finish this year STRONG! Saying yes to all the things that light our souls on FIRE! Even the things that terrify us! God gave us this opportunity, so let's make it count!  As my birthday approaches in a few weeks, it always gets me taking the temperature on where my life is at. We're almost 8 full months into 2025. What were your goals in January? What are the reasons you're proud of yourself right n...

Holy Whispers

Holy Whispers. I just love that concept. It makes me think of the quiet, still voice of God, speaking directly in my ear. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. In my coaching world, we've been doing a lot of talking about living & leaving a legacy. It's something that is really tugging at my heart - especially now that I have a grandson.  None of us knows how much time we have left on this earth. So what are we doing with our time? If I were to pass away unexpectedly, what do I want to leave behind for my kids and grandkids? And I'm not just talking recipes and traditions. I mean, what will they cherish when I'm gone? This blog was a piece of that idea. When I started writing my thoughts down years ago, it was both a way for me to remember what God was teaching me in those hectic motherhood moments - and for my kids to have it to read someday when I'm gone. Now, this blog has had lots of years of dormancy. But me listening to God's leading is why I rev...

He's Where the Joy Is

"He's where the joy is!" Those are the words that Tara-Leigh Cobble says at the end of every day's "The Bible Recap" video lesson. I've been keeping up with the reading, so today is lesson 115. Just as expected, I'm learning a ton & restoring my love for reading God's Word. I feel like this will be something I will continue to do, year after year. There's just SO much goodness in the Bible and Tara-Leigh's daily teaching is so great at connecting it all together, and making it come to life! So if you are wanting to grow in your faith & in your knowledge of Scripture - I encourage you to jump into the lessons today. You'll be so glad you did.  What's on my heart this morning is the fullness of those words: God IS where the joy is.  When life is throwing you some curveballs, and the tears come faster than the smiles...He's where the joy is. When you're walking through a really challenging situation, and your stomach...

Hard Fought Hallejuah

I'm sure you've probably heard this song by now. But...just case you haven't (or in case you'd like to listen again)...take a pause and watch the video before you keep reading. I resonate right now with all of the lyrics, but here's the part I want to talk about today:  "'Cause faith isn't proven like gold 'Til it's been through the fire, eh-eh  My head, heart, and hands are feeling heavy But that's when I lift them just a little higher" Yes! I feel this to my core right now! And this song has been a healing balm to my heart. Helping my "soul catch up with my song."  Praise God. The women's event I was preparing my Romans 8 talk for got cancelled due to low ticket sales. So, I'm going to be offering it as a free Zoom call sometime in May. I literally found out it was cancelled the day AFTER I finished my PowerPoint slides.  Welp. But here's the thing - God knew it was going to be cancelled. And He also knew I neede...

Letting Go of the Rope

As I've been preparing my speech on Romans 8, God has been speaking to me in multiple ways. I'm sure much of this is because my ears are open to anything related to what I'm studying. But it's still comical to me how many different times Romans 8:5-6 has come up in the last few weeks. I mean, I guess it makes perfect sense - I have been asking God to show me exactly what He wants me to share. And, no surprise, He's been teaching me lots of lessons and challenging my faith muscles a LOT lately.  In life coaching, we talk a lot about "letting go of the rope" in the struggles of life. Every time I say this, I think back to my years at Hope College and their event called The Pull. Picture this: a small river in the middle, a bunch of freshman guys in giant trenches on one side, an equal number of sophomore guys in giant trenches on the other side, and a GIANT rope stretched across & being pulled on for HOURS. The winner is determined by literal inches. Thi...

Doing Our Best

Let's face it - we're all over here doing the best we can, figuring things out as we go. Some days (or weeks) are harder than others. It's called life, right? Thankfully, God isn't surprised when we mess up & He's not a "hands-off" kind of Father. He's always there, nudging us back to the path He wants us on. Sending us instructions and encouragement along the way. We just have to stay tender to His leading. I'm so thankful for the faith growing tools I've added to my toolbox in the last few years. I mean, it's not like I didn't have a pretty good "toolbox" already. I've been a Christian since I was little. Went to a Christian school from Kindergarten through twelfth grade, went to a college that - at the time - still considered itself a Christian school (don't think it does anymore), and have been going to church more Sundays than not since I was born. My faith really started to grow when I became a Mom. Maybe i...

"You Have Stayed Long Enough at this Mountain" (Deut. 1:6)

One of the habits I'm loving this year is reading through the Bible chronologically with Tara Leigh Cobble on "The Bible Recap" (you can find it in multiple ways, but here's a good starting point:  The Bible Recap ). I've read through the Bible before, but Tara Leigh's way of summarizing each daily reading has me connecting to the Old Testament in ways I've not done in a while. I love reading verses I've read dozens of times before and learning something new. I mean, it just proves that Scripture is alive and God still speaks! So thankful God gave us His Word, and even more thankful that He gave us the Holy Spirit to help us understand it as we read.  While reading the first few chapters in Deuteronomy, I was catching a glimpse of Moses that I hadn't before. (For a quick overview of the book of Deuteronomy, I love The Bible Project's videos:  Deuteronomy .) Essentially, the book is mostly Moses just reminding the Israelites of everything they...
