I am someone who is moved by music and its lyrics. Whether it's because of my 30+ years of playing the violin or just the creative side of me, I hear God speaking through music on a very regular basis. As I've been praying for direction in certain areas of my life recently, I heard this song. It's message spoke to me loud and clear: don't be afraid to go after your dreams...God is right there with you. So, I just had to add this you tube link to my blog. Enjoy!

Mom Moments

Mom. It's the title I'm most proud of. The biggest blessing I've ever experienced. My daily prayer is that I don't screw this up. Well, not exactly, but I most certainly want to get this right! Life is fleeting. Time with these precious beings living under our roof will be gone before we want it to be. God has given us these little blessings, and therefore we have a responsibility to train them up according to His will. I do NOT recommend taking this motherhood thing lightly. God's Word has a lot to say about training up our kids and not leading them astray. Some days, the whole thing can feel pretty overwhelming! Today, I'm just enjoying my kids. Preparing to spend time in the pool as the heat index reaches 100+ this afternoon. Thinking about some fun mom moments from the past week. What's On My Heart ♥

I'm feeling left out. Surprisingly, what I'm "left out" of is a huge church split. Just why I'm feeling left out doesn't make total sense to me - but I think I'm figuring it out. Let me share my heart... Three years ago, after God opened our eyes to many things (primarily the warning signs of a manipulative/controlling pastor) we left our church home of nearly 9 years. It was a hard decision. One that we've shed many tears over. In fact - one that my heart still isn't totally healed from. It hurt on many levels - not the least of which was the ostracizing we felt from the people we used to call friends. The way we were treated was nearly identical to every other member who had chosen to leave before us - as well as nearly everyone who has chosen to leave since.The long and short of it was that if you chose to leave the church body, you were no longer allowed to be friends with anyone who was still at the church (per the pastor). "You Have Stayed Long Enough at this Mountain" (Deut. 1:6)

One of the habits I'm loving this year is reading through the Bible chronologically with Tara Leigh Cobble on "The Bible Recap" (you can find it in multiple ways, but here's a good starting point: The Bible Recap ). I've read through the Bible before, but Tara Leigh's way of summarizing each daily reading has me connecting to the Old Testament in ways I've not done in a while. I love reading verses I've read dozens of times before and learning something new. I mean, it just proves that Scripture is alive and God still speaks! So thankful God gave us His Word, and even more thankful that He gave us the Holy Spirit to help us understand it as we read. While reading the first few chapters in Deuteronomy, I was catching a glimpse of Moses that I hadn't before.
